
"Legends and tales of East Kazakhstan" presentation of the collection
On October 25, the long-awaited presentation of the collection "Legends and Tales of East Kazakhstan" took place at the Pushkin Regional Library. This unique publication combines toponymic legends about the origin of the names of rivers, lakes and mountains of East Kazakhstan, as well as stories about sacred places and famous historical figures of the region.
The collection includes such fascinating legends as the love story of the Irtysh and Ulba rivers, the legend of Altai Mountain and the legends of the Kandysu River. These works not only captivate, but also enrich with knowledge about our region, passing on a rich cultural tradition by word of mouth.
The compiler of the collection, local historian Ziza Mukhtarkhanovna Slyamova, the owner of the badges "Madeniyet salasyn uzdigi" and "Kitaphana isinin ardageri", has been researching and preserving the historical heritage of East Kazakhstan for many years.
Publishing legends in three languages will be an important step towards popularizing local tourism and will provide wide access to information about our region. Legends and reality are intertwined, creating a unique cultural context that we pass on to the next generations.
In her speech, Ziza Mukhtarkhanovna stressed the importance of preserving cultural heritage and attracting young people to study native legends. The participants of the event discussed the importance of toponymic research for understanding the history and identity of the region.
