The delegation of the East Kazakhstan Regional Ethnographic Museum, consisting of Candidate of Historical Sciences E. Rakhmatulina, Masters G. Kashaku, and A. Karchalova, took part in the International Scientific Conference «Turkology in the Modern World: Trends and Development Patterns», which was held on March 24-25 at the Bolshoy Altai Research and Education Center of the Altai State University. The conference brought together about 100 participants from Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan. During the conference, the participants discussed current issues related to the development of Turkology, the preservation of cultural heritage, and interdisciplinary research. The event served as an important platform for sharing experiences, establishing professional connections, and strengthening international scientific collaboration. As a result of the conference, it is planned to publish a collection of scientific articles in the «Oriental Studies» series, which will be indexed in the Russian Science Citation Index. Participation in the conference allowed the participants to expand their professional networks and identify new areas for the development of museum activities.
On March 22, a bright and atmospheric celebration of Nauryz took place in the city's Central Square. On this day, the East Kazakhstan Ethnographic Museum prepared a festive thematic exhibition in a yurt, where everyone could experience the everyday life and heritage of the Kazakh people, feel the spirit of the past, and learn more about folk customs. Guests were also treated to a colorful fashion show featuring national costumes from the museum's collection, designed by K. Akashova. The unique looks, traditional elements, and modern interpretations of national clothing showcased the beauty and diversity of the cultural heritage.
Within the framework of the concept «Law and Order», the staff of the EKR Ethnographic Museum held an event «Volunteer activities in Kazakhstan: directions and features. Volunteer movement – as a tool of patriotic education» for 1st year students of the S. Amanzholov EKU and museum employees. The event was aimed at the formation of legal and social culture, strengthening the principles of civic responsibility in society, popularization of the volunteer movement in Kazakhstan. The speakers were Anel Renatkyzy Sharipzhanova, Head of the City Front Office of the Youth Resource Center Volunteers, a student at the S. Amanzholov EKU, volunteer Eldos Kaliyev, and Sh.M. Karibayeva, Head of the Information and Educational Department of the Museum-Reserve.
«The ADK River» shopping center hosted a festive event called «Kumbirle, Dombyra!» dedicated to the National Dombyra Day. The event's goal was to promote national art, introduce young people to their native culture, and popularize the spiritual heritage of the Kazakh people. Music performers and creative groups took part in the program. Guests of the event took part in quizzes and games dedicated to Kazakh musical art and kyui, and also assembled a dombra puzzle. The visitors were especially interested in the exhibition, which presented dombras belonging to famous personalities from the museum-reserve's collection, as well as the scientific works of a prominent figure in Kazakh music, kyuishi, and composer Uatkhan Zhunusov. The exhibition's motto «A real Kazakh is not a Kazakh, a real Kazakh is a dombra!» became the leitmotif of the entire holiday.
A vibrant and joyful event took place at the East Kazakhstan Regional Library for Children and Youth — the grand opening of the summer library camp “A Celebration of Imagination.” Writer Orazai Zhenis warmly addressed the children and guests, wishing the young camp participants exciting discoveries, bright impressions, and joyful encounters with books. The library’s dance group “Kerim-ai!” gave an energetic performance that set the festive tone. Children were welcomed into themed play zones: “The Story of Paintings” — an immersive journey into the world of art and imagination, “Adventure Island” — exciting challenges and puzzles, “Reading Hall on the Grass” — a cozy space for reading and friendly conversations. A special festive atmosphere was created by lively animators. Cheerful characters organized games, contests, relays, riddles, and fun tasks, turning the day into a true celebration of imagination and friendship. The event concluded with a sweet surprise: each participant received an ice cream treat from fairy-tale characters, kindly provided by the event’s partner, "Emil' - fabrika morozhenogo" LLP. This magical day marked a wonderful beginning to summer at the library — filled with joy, creativity, and bright emotions. Ahead lies a summer full of exciting meetings, games, workshops, and of course, new books!
From March 19 to 27, 2025, in the shopping complex «Emperor» as part of the Nauryznama celebration for residents and guests of the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, EKR museum-reserve is holding an exhibition «Colors of Sunny Nauryz». The exhibition presents items of interior decoration of the Kazakh yurt and products of ancient and modern Kazakh masters of decorative and applied art.
