The Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan is a national holiday in Kazakhstan, celebrated annually on May 1.
The holiday was first celebrated in 1996. On October 18, 1995, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev signed a decree declaring May 1 as the Day of Unity of the People of Kazakhstan, thereby canceling the celebration of Labor Day.
According to political figures in Kazakhstan, maintaining interethnic and interreligious harmony is one of the priorities of the policy.
