From January 28 to February 3, 2026, a joint operational and preventive measure "Safe Yard" was conducted in the city of Astana, aimed at preventing offenses and ensuring public safety.
As part of this measure, the probation service of the Almaty District of the Department of the Penal System for the city of Astana, together with district police inspectors of the Almaty District Police Department, conducted comprehensive checks at the places of residence of individuals registered with the probation service. Preventive conversations were held with the convicts, aimed at preventing repeat offenses and explaining the duties and conditions of probation control.
The comprehensive measures carried out by the probation service contribute to the timely identification of possible offenses by registered individuals, as well as their prevention. During the "Safe Yard" measure, the probation service of the Nura District of the Department of the Penal System for the city of Astana, together with district police inspectors, also implemented a number of preventive measures aimed at fostering law-abiding behavior among convicts.
As part of this work, control was exercised over the behavior of convicts, their attitude towards legal requirements, norms of public order, rules of conduct and ethical standards, as well as towards work and society as a whole. The conduct of operational and preventive measures had a positive impact on the further compliance by convicts with the conditions of probation control. Convicts not isolated from society were checked at their places of residence, and preventive and explanatory conversations were held with them.
Furthermore, on January 28, 2026, as part of the "Safe Yard" measure, employees of the probation service of the Baikonur District, together with employees of the Public Safety Department of the Baikonur District Police Department, conducted a preventive raid on the residences of convicts registered with the service.
The main goal of the raid measures was to monitor compliance with the established procedure for serving sentences, identify possible offenses, and conduct explanatory and preventive work to prevent unlawful actions. During the raid, convicts were explained the requirements of the current legislation, and attention was drawn to the need for strict adherence to public order and lawful demands.
Thus, the conducted operational and preventive measure "Safe Yard" contributed to increasing the effectiveness of probation control, preventing offenses among registered individuals, and strengthening public safety and law and order in the territory of the city of Astana.
