
ASTANA, August 16, 2018 – The 18thmeeting of the Inter-agency Commission for International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Treaties was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Commission discussed a range of important issues related to the implementation of the international human rights legal obligations of the Republic of Kazakhstan designed to promote the improvement of human rights mechanisms and standards in our country.
Among other things, the meeting addressed the preparation and submission to the UN Human Rights Councilof national periodic reports on the implementation of international human rights treaties ratified by Kazakhstan, the implementation of recommendations of treaty bodies and special procedures of the United Nations. It also discussed a long-term plan of visits of special rapporteurs and thematic working groups of the United Nations to Kazakhstan, the country's adherence to other international human rights treaties, etc.
Following the meeting, Kazakh state authorities were recommended to increase the effectiveness of work to improve the human rights climate in the country, carry out systematic efforts to improve the quality of implementation of the recommendations of the UN human rights mechanisms adopted by Kazakhstan.
