    About Chamber

    Supreme Audit Chamber is the supreme audit institution of Kazakhstan directly accountable and subordinated to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

    The Supreme Audit Institution of Kazakhstan was established as the Accounts Committee for Control over Execution of the Republican Budget in accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated April 19, 1996.

    In 2022, following the amendments to the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan the status of the SAI Kazakhstan was elevated and its powers expanded.

    In accordance with the Decree of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 26, 2022, the Accounts Committee for Control over Execution of the Republican Budget was transformed into the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

    Astana will host an event dedicated to the presentation of the results of the international Peer Review

    On 5 June 2026, an event will be held in Astana to present the results of the Peer Review conducted on the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan by the Supreme Audit Institutions of Portugal, Lithuania, and Türkiye. The event will bring together the heads and representatives of the Supreme Audit Institutions that participated in the review. During the event, the key findings of the Peer Review and the recommendations of the international experts for the further development of Kazakhstan’s public audit system will be presented.

    Alikhan Smailov will participate in the 7th meeting of the Heads of Supreme Audit Institutions of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization

    A Kazakhstani delegation headed by Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber Alikhan Smailov will pay a working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. The 7th meeting of the Heads of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States will be held in Dushanbe. During the event the results of cooperation between the supreme audit institutions over the previous period, as well as the results of a parallel audit in the field of agriculture will be considered. In addition, a thematic session on the audit of water resources will be held. According to the working schedule, Alikhan Smailov will also hold bilateral meetings with the Chairman of the Accounts Chamber of Tajikistan and the Auditor General of Pakistan.

    Working visit of the Chairman of the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Portuguese Court of Auditors

    A delegation of the Supreme Audit Chamber of Kazakhstan, headed by the Chairman Alikhan Smailov, will pay a working visit to the Portuguese Republic at the invitation of the Portuguese Court of Auditors. The working visit was organized in order to review the preliminary results of the peer review of the SAC RK, which is carried out by auditors from Lithuania, Portugal and Türkiye. The auditors of the two countries will also share experience and jointly analyze the best auditing practices.

    The 28th ECOSAI Governing Board Meeting and the 23rd ECOSAI Training Committee Meeting will be held in Astana on September 11-12, 2024. During the meetings reporting information, issues of implementation of joint projects and topical directions of current ECOSAI activities will be considered. Representatives and specialists of Supreme Audit Institutions of Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan and Türkiye will take part in the events. ECOSAI is a regional organization uniting the Supreme Audit Institutions of Economic Cooperation Organization member countries. The Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan was elected as a member of the ECOSAI Governing Board in 2022.

    Peer review of the SAC of the Republic of Kazakhstan: auditors from Lithuania, Portugal and Turkey arrived in Astana

    Specialists of the Supreme Audit Institutions of Lithuania, Portugal and Turkey, headed by Judge Maria da Luz Carmezim Faria arrived in Astana on a 5-day working visit within peer review of the SAC of the Republic of Kazakhstan. During the working visit, representatives of the Supreme Audit Institutions of the partner countries will study methodology of the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan, IT solutions of the state audit, the risk management system for selecting audit entities, the audit process and materials of audits conducted over the years, as well as take part in thematic meetings and meetings.

Key events of the visit: bilateral meeting with the Chairman of the Chamber of Accounts of Azerbaijan Vugar Gulmammadov; signing of an updated Memorandum of Understanding between the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the field of bilateral cooperation; a seminar for employees of the Chamber of Accounts of Azerbaijan on methodological approaches to conducting audits of investment projects, as well as a presentation on the activities of the Supreme Audit Chamber of the Republic of Kazakhstan; tour to the country's State Oil Fund and the DOST e-government center.
