ANNOUNCEMENT - DISCUSSION OF THE DRAFT METHODS OF ANALYZING COMPETITION IN DIGITAL MARKETS
Every day, from September 6 to 10, 2021, at 4:00 pm Nur-Sultan time, on the ZOOM platform, the Agency for the Protection and Development of Competition of the Republic of Kazakhstan holds open discussions on the draft Methodology for analyzing competition in digital markets. We invite all interested parties to participate - owners of digital platforms, representatives of government agencies, entrepreneurs, associations - APDC specialists will consider the proposals of all participants. The main task of APDC in digital markets is to create effective analytical algorithms that take into account the modern realities of digital markets and their features. When designing the Methodology, APDC used the experience of the antimonopoly authorities of the European Union (EU), the USA (FTC), China (SAMR), the Russian Federation (FAS RF), and many other countries. Approaches to defining product and geographical boundaries, calculating market shares of digital platforms have been revised. - Ensuring the competitiveness of domestic companies operating or planning to operate in the format of digital platforms. Threats of raider acquisitions by digital giants and the presence of network effects are constraining factors in the development of startups in the field of digital markets. The Methodology takes into account these aspects and implements some approaches to assessing the market power of the subjects of the market in question. Ensuring freedom of economic behavior for Kazakhstani consumers of digital platform services. The difficulty of changing digital service providers is a common part of everyone's daily life.
